Tir Collective was commissioned by Harmony BH Limited to support an appeal against the refusal of planning permission for a 35MW Battery Energy Storage System on a 2.84-hectare agricultural site near Bramham, Leeds. The site lies within the Green Belt and primarily consists of high-quality agricultural land. The refusal was based on concerns about landscape and visual impacts, specifically that the development would appear incongruous within the rural setting.

Our work included a detailed review of the landscape and visual effects, assessment of the submitted mitigation planting scheme, and recommendations for enhancements to improve screening and reduce visual impact. We also reviewed photomontages and the Landscape and Visual Appraisal methodology, preparing an addendum to reflect updated mitigation proposals. This approach helped demonstrate that visual effects are localised and manageable, supporting the appeal case.
