Staythorpe BESS, Nottinghamshire
The 360MW/720MWh BESS, grid-scale battery storage site is located between near Newark, Nottinghamshire, adjacent to the Staythorpe National Grid Substation. Tir Collective was appointed after planning permission was refused to act as expert witness for the appeal. We prepared the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment addendum, enhanced mitigation strategy and accurate visualisations for the appeal.
Key constraints of the site included its location on undeveloped land in the countryside with a public right of way passing through the site. Our strategy enhanced the landscape proposals and improved the biodiversity net gain for the development. The appeal was allowed with a full costs award, and planning permission was granted in May 2024.
