Tir Collective was appointed to develop a detailed landscape strategy for a proposed over-55s residential development adjacent to a new care home in Myrtle Close, Penarth.

The scheme proposes 54 affordable apartments with associated green infrastructure and amenity spaces to support resident wellbeing and biodiversity. The landscape strategy builds on early design concepts to provide layered, accessible outdoor spaces that encourage social interaction and relaxation.

Key features include raised planters, benches, pergolas, picnic areas, and opportunities for residents to grow herbs in small planted containers. Shrub and ornamental planting adds seasonal interest and supports pollinators.

A coordinated landscape strategy plan was produced, detailing retained and proposed trees, planting zones with indicative species mixes, surface finishes, SuDS features, and street furniture. The strategy ensures all elements work together to create a welcoming and legible public realm.

The strategy also includes outline planting specifications, plant schedules, tree pit details, and a draft maintenance approach to support planning submission. We worked closely with the wider team, including the ecologist, to ensure that the proposals support biodiversity and sustainable drainage objectives.
